ICT for Conflict Reduction

Project: ICT for Conflict Reduction

This was our pilot program where we used information communications technology to connect young people divided by distance, culture and armed conflict accross the Philippine Islands. Here we introduced PeaceTech’s “Mass Videoconference” – videoconferences which use large screens to bridge thousands of people in conflict-areas to build understanding and solidarity. We bridged seven cities in the islands of Mindanao and Luzon so that young people could discuss directly regional conflicts separating them. Even insurgent groups, soldiers, widows, and other war victims came together to express and listen.
